MA Fondation was established in 2006 by Susanne Legault in order to prevent child abuse and alleviate its suffering. Funds raised by the foundation make it possible to provide financial support to organizations committed to helping victims of abuse, notably the Sainte-Justine UHC’s Sociolegal Pediatrics Clinic and the Marie-Vincent Foundation.
Once upon a time... MA Fondation
MA Fondation is the culmination of a dream, which Susanne had long cherished. A dream of assistance buoyed by more than 20 years of volunteer work with cancer patients and their families as well as children impacted by these difficult situations.
In recent years, the problem of abuse has been of particular interest to Susanne. In 2006, with the support of members of her family, she founded MA Fondation for the purpose of raising funds to help abused children as well as break the silence surrounding the reality of abuse and its tragic consequences for children.
MA Fondation to the rescue
In Quebec, there are organizations that do outstanding work with young victims of violence. MA Fondation hardly seeks to take their place. Rather, it wishes to support their work by providing financial assistance.
More specifically, MA Fondation provides assistance to two institutions renowned for their work with abused children:
- the UHC Sainte-Justine’s Sociolegal Clinic, which meets the medical and social needs of victims of physical and sexual mistreatment.
- the Marie-Vincent Foundation and, by the same token, the Marie-Vincent Expertise Centre, which provides police, medical, psychosocial and sociolegal services to victims of sexual abuse and their parents.
